Sociological Methodology, an American Sociological Association journal under the editorship of Tim F. Liao, seeks contributions to all areas of cutting-edge methodology in sociology and the broader social sciences.

Sociological Methodology is published as an annual volume, containing papers in chapter form.  Normally, the content of Sociological Methodology is driven by author-initiated submission without pre-specified themes.  Editorial decisions over manuscripts are based on the advice of peer referees. Criteria for assessment include originality, breadth of interest and applicability, and expository clarity. Discussions of implications for research application are vital, and authors are urged to use empirical examples of the methods they discuss.

When a paper is accepted, we will require a version with the text double spaced (including the footnotes and bibliography), in 12 pt font, with 1.25" margins, formatted ASA-style.(See: ASA manuscript preparation guide,  ASA Style Guide
and  ASA Author's Corner and Sociological Methodology's editorial style sheet) Submission of a manuscript for review by SM implies that it has not been previously published and that it is not under review elsewhere. The submission fee $25, is payable by check or PayPal, made out to "ASA" or "American Sociological Association" should be sent to:
